Digital Legacy is a side project and a proof of concept born from the idea of what’s going to happen with our “digital legacy” once we die.
It answer a question like: How my loved ones can easily access to my online digital assets if they don’t know my master password, encrypted using 1Password?
The proof of concept has been developed using a Serverless architecture, with Amazon Web Services. Concretely, operations works with Serverless framework.
The Product Hunt Digital Legacy publication performed well. Many hunters upvoted it.
The question behind the prototype
The project asked what should happen to online accounts and important digital information when their owner dies. A trusted person may need access to a message or instructions, while the owner may not want to share a master password during their lifetime. The prototype explored that tension rather than attempting to solve every legal and technical aspect of an estate.
The landing-page image above shows the core flow: prepare a message for a trusted contact and arrange delivery later. The implementation used AWS and the Serverless Framework.
