Accessing in a daily basis to Hacker News allow tech and non-tech people know what’s going on in occidental countries, mostly. But, most importantly, USA.
One of the most important aspects of this collaborative news aggregator is, undoubtedly, the incoming traffic and participation.
When you read threads, comments are fundamental key pieces when it comes to build an idea of the linked article.
Nevertheless, the platform doesn’t comes with the possibility of subscribing the threads, in a way a user could see what’s being commented inside. And here there is our need.
The HN Notifier Chrome Plugin allows you to subscribe any threads, notifying when new comments are posted.
Following a discussion
On Hacker News, an article’s comments can be as useful as the linked article itself. A discussion develops over time, but a reader who leaves the page may never see a later reply. HN Notifier let a reader subscribe to a thread and receive a browser notification when new comments appeared.
The Chrome plugin addressed that narrow workflow: notice a conversation, follow it, and return when there is something new to read. The linked Product Hunt page records the original release. This project is part of an archive of software experiments; its presence here does not imply the extension is still maintained. See the projects index for related work.
